NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Two Atlantic 10 administrators have recently begun serving appointments on NCAA Committees. Saint Joseph's Athletic Director
Jill Bodensteiner was named to the prestigious Division I Committee on Academics, while Richmond Deputy Director of Athletics for Policy and Sports Management LaRee Sugg was appointed to the NCAA Honors Committee.
Bodensteiner and Sugg add to an already historic roster of A-10 NCAA committee appointments. All 14 member institutions have at least one person serving on an NCAA Committee in 2021-22, a first in league history.
The NCAA Committee on Academics manages Division I academic policies, eligibility standards and the academic performance program. Bodensteiner, whose appointment on the committee came with an immediate effective date, is one of three athletic directors on the committee. She is in her fourth year at Saint Joseph's, where she oversees both intercollegiate athletics and campus recreation. Her tenure has included a focus on student-athlete experience, expansion of the Saint Joseph's external branding efforts, and securing the funding for and announcing a $55 million state-of-the-art Athletic Complex. A native of Valparaiso, Ind., Bodensteiner is a graduate of Notre Dame, where she also received an MBA and had an accomplished career prior to the move to Hawk Hill. She holds a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and has provided a voice on legal matters in collegiate sports, including serving on two NCAA Committees related to name, image and likeness (NIL).
The NCAA Honors Committee reviews the nominations and selects recipients for the NCAA's most prestigious awards. Sugg began her service on the committee on January 23, serving as the FCS subdivision representative. She has worked at Richmond since 2001 and currently serves as the Spiders' Senior Woman Administrator (SWA) and Chief of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. She previously was an Assistant and Associate Athletic Director, and she began her career at UR as the head women's golf coach. She was a professional golfer, beginning her career immediately following her graduation from UCLA, where she helped the Bruins win a PAC-10 and NCAA Championship. She has played on the LPGA Tour, the Women's Professional Golfers European Tour, the Future's Ladies Golf Tour, and the Kosaido Ladies Asian Tour. She was the national spokesperson for
