Men’s Lacrosse Defeats Towson with Dominant Opening Three Periods

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's used a dominant 8-2 margin over the opening three periods to take down Towson Friday afternoon, 11-8. The Hawks move to 5-2 overall and the Tigers drop to 3-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • SJU tallied six unanswered goals up until Towson found the back of the net with 30 seconds left in the first half. The Crimson & Gray held a 4-0 lead after one and 6-1 lead at the halfway point.
  • All three scores in the third stanza came by the 8:27 mark with St. Joe's up 8-2 before the clock expired.
  • Towson claimed a 3-1 margin over the first 12 minutes of the final period to pull the game within four at 9-5. The final 1:03 saw five goals scored for the Hawks to finish up by three.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Matt Bohmer was tied with a game-high four points on three scores and a helper.
  • Levi Anderson and Carter Page each had three points with Anderson scoring twice and Page three times.
  • Austin Strazzulla scored twice with Alex Kenner finding the back of the cage once.
  • Mac McLaughlin and Tucker Brown each handed out an assist.
  • Zach Cole was 13-of-17 on faceoffs with eight ground balls and two assists.
  • Patrick Clemens continued to be a defensive presence with three caused turnovers and six ground balls.
  • Robbie Seely (1-0) notched the victory with 12 saves.

Conference play begins for the Hawks next Saturday at Mount St. Mary's.
