Evans Leads Women’s Lacrosse in Loss at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Riley Evans tied her career mark in goals and set a career best in draw controls to lead Saint Joseph's in a 17-8 loss Saturday afternoon at Penn State. The Hawks drop to 3-4 on the season as the Nittany Lions advance to 4-2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Hawks got on the board first before Penn State ripped off seven unanswered up to the buzzer at the end of the period.
  • The Nittany Lions tallied six-straight in the second to extend their lead to 13-1.
  • Penn State held a 2-1 advantage in the third frame to push it to 15-2.
  • St. Joe's outscored the home team 6-2 in the final stanza to close the gap to nine.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Evans finished with four scores and six draw controls for the Hawks.
  • Emma O'Neill tallied two goals with Lisa Ross and Bonnie Yu recording one each.
  • Evans was tied with Sophia Kolkka for a game-high in draw controls.
  • Penn State won the turnover battle with a +10 margin with draw controls being tied at 14 apiece.
  • Jorden Concordia played the entire game in net and made eight saves.

The Hawks return to action next Saturday when they travel to Delaware.
