Figura Scores 100th Career Goal as Women’s Lacrosse Hammers Delaware, 19-8

NEWARK, Del. – Behind a five-goal performance from Lauren Figura, Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse hammered Delaware Saturday afternoon, 19-8. The Hawks move to 4-4 overall, while the Blue Hens drop to 2-6. Figura's first of the game was her 100th career goal.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Hawks took the first two goals of the game before the Blue Hens went 3-1 to knot things at three apiece. SJU claimed the final two scores to hold a 5-3 advantage after one.
  • Delaware scored first in the second and then the Hawks ripped the game open a bit with a 5-1 spurt to the half with a 10-5 lead.
  • St. Joe's really pulled away in the third period with eight-straight goals to go ahead 18-5.
  • The home team notched three goals before the Hawks stopped the run with one of their own for a 19-8 final.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • SJU won the draw control battle 22-9.
  • 12 different Hawks recorded a goal as the team posted a season-best 19 scores.
  • Figura led all scorers with the five scores. She added two assists for seven points on the day.
  • Lisa Ross handed out three assists and scored once for four points. She also had a ground ball and a caused turnover.
  • Sophia Kolkka (2G, 1A) and Julia Strobel (1G, 2A) each had three points. Kolkka added six draw controls and a caused turnover.
  • Rilea Fusco (1G, 1A), Emma O'Neill (2G), and Maddie Yoder (2G) all tallied two points.
  • Kate Antonelli, Bella Miceli, Maggie Davidson, and Bonnie Yu all record one goal.
  • Riley Evans scored once and corralled a career-best eight draw controls. This is the second game in a row that she has set a career mark in that category.
  • Kaela Smith rounded out the point scoring with one assist.
  • Jorden Concordia (4-4) made four saves and allowed six goals.
  • Liana Moli entered for the final 9:27 in cage, for her first appearance of her career. She made two saves and allowed two scores.

The Hawks return to action on Friday with a trip to Pittsburgh to take on Duquesne.
