The Saint Joseph's softball team opened Atlantic 10 play with a pair of close contests versus George Washington on Tuesday. The Hawks battled back against the Colonials in the opener, but came up short, 3-1, while George Washington held on for a 2-0 win in game two at SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened • Game One
• George Washington took a 1-0 lead in the top of the second as Hannah Eslick scored from third on a wild pitch.
• The Colonials added to their lead in the top of the third as Alexa Williams made it 3-0 with a two-run home run.

Carly Rybinski scored on an infield single off the bat of
Jordan Hinkle to bring the Hawks to within 3-1 in the bottom of the third.
• The Hawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh, but the Colonials worked out of trouble to end the game.

• Hinkle went 2-for-4 with a RBI.

Emily Siler tossed a complete game, allowing three runs on four hits, while striking out two as she moved to 2-6 on the season.

• A solo home run by Williams gave George Washington a 1-0 lead in the top of the first.
• Sierra Lange extended the Colonials' lead to 2-0 in the top of the third with a solo home run.
