WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The USciences track & field program opened its outdoor season at King College's Monarch Invitational on Saturday.
Moses Allie broke his own school record in the 100m, as his 11.58 was right on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Championship qualifying standard and was the fifth-fastest amongst 16 runners in the preliminaries.
Qualifying for the final, he would run an 11.65 to place sixth.
Chloe Georges and Hannah Leszcynski (29.57m) both set CACC standards in the hammer, with Georges' mark of 33.49 ranking third in the field of 15.
That was one of two CACC standards on the day for Georges, who also placed seventh out of 20 in the discus after marking at 27.70m.
Sian Poteat-Romero joined Georges in registering a third-place finish, in the 400m, as he crossed in a collegiate personal best 54.29. That was one of two collegiate personal bests for the junior, who ran the 200m in 24.81.
University of the Sciences also had two student-athletes set CACC standards in the pole vault as Hailey Swaldi and Ashley Ensman both cleared 2.30m.
William Hallinan and Omar Bedak both placed in the top-half of the field in the 1500m, with Hallinan crossing fifth out of 20 with a CACC standard 4:20.34 and Bedak completing his first collegiate outdoor event in 4:31.18.
Sabrina Abbruzzese placed in the top-half of the field with a CACC standard too, as her furthest mark in the javelin traveled 27.47m.
Abdallah Elbready (12.71) notably set a collegiate personal best in the 100m prelim, while Kerrigan Clem made her collegiate debut in the javelin and shot put.
In the midst of three straight weekends of competition, USciences is back in action at Rowan's Oscar Moore Invitational next Saturday.
