WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A big frame in each game lifted West Chester over the USciences softball team in non-conference action on Friday afternoon.
The Golden Rams scored six in the second inning of a 10-1 game one, before plating five in the fourth of a 10-2 game two.
Game Two
Trailing 3-0 entering the fourth, doubles by Taylor Hamm (with one out) and Danielle Jones (with two outs) got USciences on the board.
West Chester immediately struck back with the five runs in the bottom-half though to halt any potential momentum.
Gabrielle Simms home run in the fifth was the sixth of her career, now tied for sixth in program history. It also resulted in her 78th career run and 124th career hit, now fourth and tied for ninth all-time respectively.
West Chester opened the scoring with a leadoff home run in the second, after Miranda Rodriguez had been stranded following a double in the top-half.
The Golden Rams scored one more in the frame, before adding an unearned run in the third.
Jones led the offense with a 2-for-3 performance, while Rodriguez also reached base twice as she drew a base on balls.
Game One
USciences got two runners on in the top of the first after singles by Abbigail Markee and Hamm, but the Devils stranded both and WC immediately took the lead with two unearned runs in the bottom-half.
The Golden Rams would then break out for six in the second.
Markee finished a perfect 2-for-2 with a sacrifice bunt, while Lauren Del Giudice also went 2-for-2 with a run scored on an Ashley Steiner sacrifice fly.
