WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Joseph's
Charles Coleman had a career-best 18 points and 11 rebounds, and
Ejike Obinna finished with 14 points and 14 rebounds, but the 13th seeded Hawks' comeback fell short as 12th seed La Salle held on for a 63-56 victory in the First Round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Championship on Wednesday afternoon at Capital One Arena.
How It Happened
• La Salle took an early 20-15 lead, but the Hawks fought back to tie the game at 20-20 on a three-pointer by Coleman at the 12:12 mark.
• The Explorers responded with a 19-3 run as a layup by Anwar Gill made it 39-23 with 2:18 remaining in the half.
• Stringing together a 13-0 run that spanned both halves, Saint Joseph's cut the deficit to 39-36 on a driving layup by
Cameron Brown at 14:25.
• The Hawks cut the Explorers' lead to one, 48-47, on a dunk by Obinna with 6:06 to play.
• La Salle answered with five straight points to edge ahead 53-47 on a three-pointer by Christian Ray at 4:03.
• A three-pointer by
Jordan Hall made it 53-50, but the Explorers scored the next nine points and held off the Hawks in the final minutes.

• Coleman surpassed his previous career-high of 12 points versus UConn (2/29/20) as he finished the day 7-of-9 from the floor and a career-best 4-of-5 from three-point range.
• Coleman's 11 rebounds passed his previous high of nine versus Cincinnati (1/19/20).
• Obinna posted his team-leading ninth double-double of the season as he was 7-of-10 from the field for 14 points to go with a game-high 14 rebounds.
• Obinna capped his first year on Hawk Hill with the 10th-best single season field goal percentage (.574) in program history.
• Hall handed out a game-high six assists to go with nine rebounds and 11 points.
• Hall's 174 assists this year rank eighth in single-season at St. Joe's.
