Women’s Lacrosse Hands Davidson Second Loss of Season

 
PHILADELPHIA – Lauren Figura led the way again for Saint Joseph's as the senior tallied five goals in the 12-9 win over Davidson on Friday afternoon. St. Joe's advances to 7-4 for its fourth-straight win and 3-0 in league play, while the Wildcats fall to 8-2 overall and 2-1 A-10.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Hawks jumped out to a 3-1 lead after the first period of play.
  • St. Joe's continued to hammer the net with six unanswered in the second to go up 9-1 at the half.
  • Davidson started to claw back into the game with a 3-1 third quarter to cut the deficit 10-4.
  • The comeback bid fell short for the 'Cats as the 5-2 fourth quarter advantage kept them behind 12-9.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Figura led all scorers with the five goals.
  • Rilea Fusco, Emma O'Neill, and Riley Evans all tallied a pair of goals and one assist.
  • Evans added seven draw controls to her line for a game-high.
  • Sophia Kolkka tallied four ground balls, four draw controls, two caused turnovers, and an assist.
  • Lisa Ross (1G) and Bonnie Yu (1A) each finished with a point.
  • Jorden Concordia picked up the victory and made 13 saves. She also caused two turnovers and scooped up two ground balls.

The Hawks head south to Richmond to take on the nationally ranked Spiders on Sunday.
