BRONX, N.Y. – Saint Joseph's softball team split its series-ending doubleheader at Fordham on Saturday as the Hawks'
Amanda Herr was outstanding in the circle in a 1-0 victory in the opener, while the Rams took game two, 8-0, in six innings.
How It Happened • Game One
• Saint Joseph's scored the lone run of the contest in the top of the fifth as Sarah Cancila doubled home Kayla Tauber to make it 1-0.
• Herr made the lead stand as she worked out of a jam in the bottom of the sixth and sat the Rams down in order in the seventh to secure the win.
Inside The Boxscore • Game One
• Herr improved to 5-4 on the season as she allowed three hits, while striking out nine in the shutout.
• Cancila was 3-for-4 with a RBI.
How It Happened • Game Two
• Fordham scored four runs on five hits to take a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the first.
• Amanda Carey extended the Rams' lead to 5-0 in the bottom of the third on a RBI double.
• A sacrifice fly by Carey scored Gigi Speer to extend Fordham's lead to 6-0 in the fifth inning.
• Rachel Hubertus connected on a two-run home run in the sixth to make it 8-0.
Inside The Boxscore • Game Two
• Emily Siler moved to 8-9 on the year as she allowed four earned runs on seven hits over 4.0 innings.
• Herr tossed 1.1 innings of relief, allowing three runs on three hits.
• Jordan Hinkle was 2-for-3 with a stolen base.
• Saint Joseph's took two of three games versus Fordham to improve to 11-6 in Atlantic 10 play.
