AMHERST, Mass. – Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse came up short Saturday afternoon against #14 Massachusetts, 14-8. The Hawks fall to 10-6 overall and 6-2 in league play, while the Minutewomen move to 14-2, 8-0 A-10.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Minutewomen jumped out to an early 6-1 lead after the first period.
- Both teams traded goals in the second with two apiece for an 8-3 UMass' lead.
- The home team upped the margin with a 3-2 advantage in the third.
- St. Joe's and Massachusetts tallied three scores each in the final stanza.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:
- Sophia Kolkka finished tied for a team-high three points with one goal and two assists. She added four draw controls and two caused turnovers to her stat line.
- Maddie Yoder scored twice and assisted once for her second-straight game with at least three points and third of the last four.
- Lauren Figura and Riley Evans each notched a pair of goals. Evans added nine draw controls to her line.
- Rilea Fusco (1A), Riley Delaney (1G), and Bonnie Yu (1A) rounded out the Hawks scorers.
- Jorden Concordia (10-6) picked up the loss with 10 saves, 14 goals against, and four ground balls.
