PHILADELPHIA – With an 8-2 second half advantage, Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse picked up a 14-7 victory over Sacred Heart to secure the number one seed in the NEC Championship in May. The win also secured at least a share of the NEC regular season title for the Hawks.
The NEC Championship in its entirety will be played at Sweeney Field with the semifinals on Thursday, May 5 and the championship game on Saturday, May 7.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The visitors held a 4-3 lead after the initial period of play.
- St. Joe's pulled ahead in the second stanza with a 3-1 advantage to go up 6-5 at the half.
- A 7-0 tear in the third quarter opened the game for the Hawks to push ahead 13-6.
- The Pioneers' only two goals of the second half came in the fourth quarter as they outpaced the home team 2-1.
