PHILADELPHIA – With an 8-2 second half advantage, Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse picked up a 14-7 victory over Sacred Heart to secure the number one seed in the NEC Championship in May. The win also secured at least a share of the NEC regular season title for the Hawks.
 
The NEC Championship in its entirety will be played at Sweeney Field with the semifinals on Thursday, May 5 and the championship game on Saturday, May 7.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The visitors held a 4-3 lead after the initial period of play.
• St. Joe's pulled ahead in the second stanza with a 3-1 advantage to go up 6-5 at the half.
• A 7-0 tear in the third quarter opened the game for the Hawks to push ahead 13-6.
• The Pioneers' only two goals of the second half came in the fourth quarter as they outpaced the home team 2-1.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE:

• Zach Cole dominated at the X with a 17-of-22 performance and 16 ground balls.
• Carter Page posted a game-high six points with a trio of goals and assists.
• Tucker Brown tallied a game-best four scores and scooped up a pair of ground balls.
• Matt Bohmer (2G, 1A) and Levi Anderson (1G, 2A) each contributed three points.
• Mac McLaughlin scored once and assisted on another.
• Austin Strazzulla recorded two goals, while Colin Reich added two helpers.
• Teo Domic notched an assist.
• Patrick Clemens rounded out the scorers with a goal, while causing four turnovers and grabbing four ground balls.
