Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Nationally Ranked Penn in Overtime

PHILADELPHIA – Saint Joseph's men's lacrosse fell to #12/13/11 Penn Tuesday evening 13-12 in overtime, behind a 7-3 fourth-quarter push to tie the game at the end of regulation. The Hawks drop to 11-3 overall, while Penn moves to 7-4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • St. Joe's held a 2-1 lead after the first frame with Levi Anderson notching both scores for the Hawks.
  • The Hawks went up by three with a 2-1 margin over the first 7:14 of the second period. Penn answered to cut it back down to two at the end of the half, 6-4.
  • SJU expanded its lead with a 3-1 third period to go up 9-5.
  • Penn rallied back in the fourth stanza with a 7-3 advantage to tie the game and send it to overtime, despite an attempt with under 20 seconds remaining by the Hawks to notch the game-winner.
  • The Quakers scored the deciding goal with 40 seconds remaining in the overtime period.
