FAIRFAX, Va. – Third seed Saint Joseph's fell to second seed Fordham, 3-2, on Thursday afternoon in the main bracket of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Softball Championship.
With the loss, the Hawks move to the elimination bracket and will face fifth seed Dayton in a must-win contest at 2:30 p.m. on Friday at George Mason Softball Complex.
How It Happened
• The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fifth as
Kayla Tauber scored on a two-out single by
Jordan Hinkle.
• A fielding error by Fordham's second baseman on a ball hit by
Kaelin Cash allowed Hinkle to score to make it 2-0.
• The Rams cut the Hawks' lead to 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI double by Julia Martine.
• Fordham tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the sixth on a RBI triple by Sarah Taffet.
• With two outs and a runner at third in the bottom of the seventh, Amanda Carey delivered the game-winning run for the Rams on a RBI single.
