Third Varsity 8 Earns Bronze As Men's Rowing Wraps Up Competition at Dad Vail Regatta

Saint Joseph's 3rd Varsity 8 placed third in its Grand Final to earn a bronze medal as the Hawks' men's rowing team finished competition at the 2022 Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River on Saturday.

How It Happened
• The Hawks' 3rd Varsity 8 of C Ryan Flaherty, 8 Adam Sanin, 7 Ryan Trebel, 6 Kevin O'Sullivan, 5 Tom Scherer, 4 Dennis Dougherty, 3 Nicolas Leon, 2 Noah Pingul, 1 Chris Nolan earned bronze as the they placed third in a competitive Grand Final in a time of 5:50.277, less than four seconds off the first-place time.
• St. Joe's Varsity 8 of C John Carluccio, 8 Ed Lemanowicz, 7 Andrew Skakal, 6 Diego Viega de Roovere, 5 William Altier, 4 Collin Seabrook, 3 Cameron McNeill, 2 Max Bernstein, 1 Thomas Rigali earned a spot in the Grand Final as the Hawks placed third in their semifinal race in a time of 5:41.067 in the morning.
• In the race for the O'Brien Trophy, the Hawks' Varsity 8 crossed the finish line in 5:41.640 to place fifth overall.
• In a strongly-contested race in the 2nd Varsity Grand Final for the Bayer Trophy, Saint Joseph's boat of C David Knapp, 8 Air Dunkley, 7 Rob Dougherty, 6 William Darling, 5 Jacob Vucinaj, 4 Owen Lyons, 3 Nicholas Hutchinson, 2 Nick Coppola, 1 Rodrigo Miranda crossed the finish line in 5:51.541 to place fourth, just two seconds behind George Washington in third place.
• The Hawks' Varsity 4 of C Christopher Norwell, 4 Nicholas Edwards, 3 Matt Oves, 2 Simon Sheppard, 1 Max Lewis placed sixth in their semifinal heat with a time of 7:00.980.
• In the Varsity 4 Third Final, the Hawks improved on their morning time, finishing the course in 6:53.169 to place third.
