PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team wrapped up its non-conference slate on Tuesday, falling to Rutgers, 14-2, at Bainton Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Rutgers (40-12) tallied a run in the first before the Hawks equalized in the second.Â
Andrew Cossetti led off the inning with a double, moved over on a groundout by

Brandon Drapeau. Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, the hosts would add five in the bottom of the frame to regain the lead.
• Saint Joseph's (25-23) would get one back in the top of the third on a leadoff home run by LIam Bendo, but the Scarlet Knights scored twice in the bottom half to push their lead to 8-2.
• Rutgers would then score singletons in the fourth and fifth before adding a pair in each of the sixth and eighth innings to set the final margin.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Sam Portnoy was credited with the win for Rutgers, while
Mike Picollo took the loss.Â
Luke Gabrysh had a solid relief outing for SJU, retiring all three batters he faced in the bottom of the seventh inning.
