MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – Saint Joseph's
Natalie Nevins scored her first goal of the season, but host West Virginia pulled away from the Hawks in the second half for a 5-1 decision on Sunday afternoon.
How It Happened
• Playing to a draw for a majority of the first half, West Virginia's Rhea Kijowski broke the tie with a tally at 38:13.
• A Maddie Moreau goal extended West Virginia's lead to 2-0 just over a minute into the second half.
• Nevins cut the Mountaineers' lead to 2-1 as she converted a penalty kick at 46:33.
• West Virginia's Emily Thompson answered less than three minutes later to put her squad ahead 3-1.
• The Mountaineers added two more goals in the half to hold on for a 5-1 win.
