WASHINGTON, D.C. – Saint Joseph's senior
Cameron Brown became the 58th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points and
Lynn Greer III poured a career-high 31 points, but George Washington topped the Hawks, 92-91, in an overtime thriller on Wednesday evening at the Smith Center.
How It Happened
• George Washington took an 11-5 lead less than three minutes into the opening half.
• Brown surpassed the 1,000 career point mark with a layup at 16:54 and brought St. Joe's to within 11-7.
• The Colonials extended their lead to 24-9 behind a 13-2 run that spanned five minutes.
• Seven consecutive points by the Hawks brought St. Joe's to within 27-18 on a three-pointer by
Christian Winborne at 8:19.
• Back-to-back three-pointers by
Kacper Klaczek and Greer III and a dunk by
Ejike Obinna cut the Colonials' lead to four, 30-26, with 4:30 to go in the first half.
• A free throw by
Erik Reynolds II made it a three-point contest, but a three-pointer by George Washington's James Bishop in the final minute gave the Colonials a 41-35 edge at halftime.
• Sparked by a Klaczek three-pointer, the Hawks put together a 10-0 run to take a 55-51 lead on a layup by Reynolds II at 12:56.
• George Washington responded with nine straight points to retake the lead and open a 60-55 advantage on a three-pointer by Maximus Edwards at 9:49.
• Attacking the Colonials' defense at the rim, Greer III scored seven straight points to tie the game at 69-69 with 6:05 to play.
• A free throw by Brown gave the Hawks a 72-71 lead, but George Washington followed with six consecutive points to open a 77-72 edge on a three-point play by Brendan Adams with 1:48 remaining.
• Down 79-74, Greer III came up clutch with five straight points, including the game-tying tip-in with :04 left to force overtime.
• In a back-and-forth extra frame, Saint Joseph's pushed ahead 89-85 on a layup by Greer III with under two minutes to go.
• George Washington retook the lead, 92-91, on a layup by Bishop with :20 left.
• The Hawks didn't convert in their next offensive possession, but got the ball back with :08.3 left after causing a turnover by the Colonials.
• With the final seconds ticking away, Saint Joseph's go-ahead basket missed its mark as George Washington dribbled out the final moments.

• Greer III finished the night 13-22 from the field, 2-5 from three-point range and 3-5 from the foul line for 31 points, while grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds for his first collegiate double-double.
• Entering the day three points shy of 1,000, Brown scored nine points on the evening and added eight rebounds.
• Klaczek, who scored 11 of his 16 points in the second half and overtime, handed out a team-best five assists and grabbed seven rebounds.
• Reynolds II was the third Hawk in double figures, scoring 17 points to go with four assists.
• Saint Joseph's finished with a season-high 46 points in the paint.
• Wednesday marked the first of two meetings this season between Saint Joseph's and George Washington, with the two teams set to meet again on February 11 at Hagan Arena.
