Saint Joseph's Defense Stifles American En Route To 69-53 Victory

Saint Joseph's Xzayvier Brown scored a game-high 20 points and the Hawks' defense stifled American throughout the evening in Wednesday's 69-53 victory at Hagan Arena.

How It Happened
• Ahead 8-6 early, Saint Joseph's used a 12-4 run to open a 20-10 lead on three-pointer by Cameron Brown at 11:47
• American answered back with consecutive baskets to make it 20-14
• Leading 23-16, the Hawks ended the first half on a 7-2 run to take a 30-18 advantage into halftime after holding the Eagles to just 6-25 from the field.
• American opened the second half on a 6-0 run, cutting the Hawks' lead to 30-24 on a basket by Matt Rogers.
• Saint Joseph's pushed forward 34-26, but used an 11-2 run to open a 45-28 edge on a Xzayvier Brown basket at 12:30.
• The Hawks built their lead to as many as 21, and never allowed the Eagles to come closer than 13, as they earned their fourth straight win.
