NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – A seven-point performance helped
Sarah Groark lead the Hawks to their second-straight win over the weekend, earning the Saint Joseph's women's lacrosse attacker a selection as Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. The conference announced the weekly awards on Monday afternoon.
Groark continues to grow in her first year playing collegiately, having now scored hat tricks in back-to-back Atlantic 10 matchups. The West Chester native posted team-highs in goals (4), assists (3) and points (7) in the win over Duquesne on Saturday, setting career-marks in each as well. Three of Groark's four strikes came in the second frame to help spark a 9-0 Hawk run to overcome an early deficit in the 16-10 win.
In the three wins on the season, Groark has averaged three goals a game and has pitched in five assists. Groark is second on the team in points (17) and trails midfielder
Bonnie Yu in the goal scoring charts by five goals as the rookie builds on her debut campaign.
St. Joe's returns to action as they look for the third-consecutive win to start the Atlantic 10 campaign with a midweek matchup at George Washington. The Hawks and Colonials are set for a first draw starting at 1 p.m.
