Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Temple Despite Career Effort From Bonnie Yu

PHILADELPHIA – Bonnie Yu proved the star of the game for Saint Joseph's on Saturday afternoon at the Temple Sports Complex, but the Owls were able to overcome Yu's five goals and two assists for a 13-10 win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Winning the opening draw control, the Hawks converted their possession into an early goal, Bonnie Yu continuing her recent form with a goal just over a minute into the game.
  • After three consecutive goals for the hosts, Yu would strike with her second of the game to cut the deficit to 3-2 with the final seconds of the first quarter elapsing.
  • The Owls grabbed one back to start the second quarter, but the Hawks used goals from Maddie Yoder and Riley Evans to equal the scoring at 4-4.
  • Yu's first half hat trick put the Hawks up 5-4 with just under 10 minutes remaining to give SJU its first lead of the game.
  • Back-to-back goals from Temple took a 6-5 lead into half for the hosts.
  • The Owls opened the second half with four of the first five goals scored, leading by as many as 10-6. However, after her fourth goal of the year, Yu turned provider for back-to-back assists to Yoder and Kate Tomick to cut the deficit to two.
  • Three goals for Temple in the opening eight minutes grew the Owl lead to 13-8 with seven minutes left. Despite Yu's fifth goal, her career-high, of the afternoon and a late Riley Evans strike, the Hawks fell short with a comeback attempt as Owls took a 13-10 finish.
