OLEAN, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's men's tennis team battled back from an early deficit, but it wasn't enough as the Hawks fell to St. Bonaventure, 4-3, at the SBU Fitness Center on Sunday night.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• St. Bonaventure (5-6) won a hotly contested doubles point, taking both the second and third flights in tiebreakers, while the first flight was in a tiebreaker as well when play was halted.
 
• Saint Joseph's (3-2) fought back in singles play, with Inigo Diaz making quick work of his third-flight opponent to level the score, but the Bonnies took the second and fourth flights to reach the brink of victory.
 
• Alejandro Vedri came back from a set down to win his first-flight match before Nassim Fenjiro tied things up with a straight-sets win in the fifth.
 
• Unfortunately for the Crimson and Gray, SBU won the final match in the sixth flight to secure the overall victory.

"First, congratulations to St. Bonaventure and Coach Mike, who does an awesome job with his team," head coach Marc Pibernat said. "I'm very proud of the guys because they left everything they had on the court in every match. It is obvious that after leading 5-1 in the third set and having three match points to clinch the match and not being able to close it that today was not our day; despite the massive efforts from everyone, we came up short. This is probably our toughest loss since I've been on Hawk Hill but we need to keep our heads up and go back to work on Tuesday. Go Hawks!"
