HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Saint Joseph's softball team fell to James Madison, 6-2, in the opening game of the JMU Duke Invitational on Thursday evening at Veterans Memorial Park.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as
Meghan Sinkus scored on a RBI single by
Madison Fife.
• James Madison answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the first to take a 2-1 advantage.
• Jasmine Hall singled home Hannah Shifflett to tie the game, then scored on a double by Hallie Hall to make it 2-1.
• James Madison added to its lead in the bottom of the second as Shifflett doubled home a pair of runs to make it 4-1.
• A defensive miscue by the Hawks allowed Shifflet to score and make it 5-1 later in the second.

Jessica Gaughan brought the Hawks to within 5-2 with a solo home run in the top of the fourth.
• A fielder's choice off the bat of Shifflet allowed Hannah Hennessy to score to make it 6-2 in the bottom of the fourth.
• Saint Joseph's would get a runner on in both the sixth and seventh innings, but James Madison didn't yield a run as it held on for the win.
