Baseball Falls at Saint Louis in Series Finale, 14-8

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Saint Joseph's baseball team wrapped up its weekend series at Saint Louis on Sunday, falling to the Billikens, 14-8, at the Billiken Sports Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Louis (22-11 overall, 8-1 Atlantic 10) jumped out to a big early lead, scoring three times in the second and seven times in the third for a 10-0 advantage.  The Billikens would then press the lead to 13-0 after five.

• Saint Joseph's (12-19 overall, 4-5 Atlantic 10) started to claw back in the seventh as Ryan Weingartner hit a solo home run to get on the board.  Luke Zimmerman and Ryan Picollo would reach on two-out singles before a walk to Luca Trigiani loaded the bases for Brett Callahan, who cleared them with a double to right.  Callahan would then score on an error to make it a 13-5 game.

• After the Billikens added one more in the bottom of the seventh, the Hawks loaded the bases with nobody out for Zimmerman, who singled home Nate Thomas; Max Hitman would also score on an error on the play to cut the margin to 14-7.

• Conlan Wall and Ryan Cesarini hit consecutive singles to lead off the ninth before Thomas singled in Wall to set the final score.
