FAIRFAX, Va. – The Saint Joseph's softball team put up a strong effort in its doubleheader at George Mason on Sunday, but the Patriots earned a 5-0 win in the opener and held on for a 3-1 victory in game two at GMU Softball Complex.
How It Happened - Game One
• After five scoreless innings, George Mason broke through for five runs in the bottom of the sixth.
• Haley Taormina gave the Patriots a 1-0 lead with a RBI double.
• A sacrifice fly by Nicole Bechtel made it 2-0.
• Rachel Warrens doubled home Taormina to push the lead to 3-0.
• George Mason added two more runs on RBI singles to extend its lead to five.
• Saint Joseph's would get a runner on with two out in the top of the seventh, but the Patriots worked around that to get the final out.
Inside The Boxscore - Game One

Kayla Tauber was 2-for-2.
• Meghan Sinklus and
Hailey Malito each went 1-for-3.
• Saint Joseph's starter
Taylor Trowbridge moved to 4-6 as she allowed three earned runs on six hits over 5.2 innings.
How It Happened - Game Two
• A double steal in the bottom of the first allowed Taormina to score from third to make it 1-0 in favor of George Mason.
• A single to left center scored Warrens later in the first to give the Patriots a 2-0 edge.
• Saint Joseph's cut George Mason's lead to 2-1 in the top of the third on a RBI single by
Kaelin Cash.
• The Patriots added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, and set the Hawks down in order in the seventh to secure the win.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two
• Tauber was 2-for-3 with a run scored.
• Cash was 1-for-2 with a RBI.
• St. Joe's starter
Emily Siler allowed three earned runs on seven hits over 6.0 innings as she moved to 8-10 overall.
