The Saint Joseph's softball team fell to Saint Louis in its series-opening doubleheader on Saturday at SJU Softball Field as the Billikens won game one, 6-2, and rallied for a 7-6 win in the nightcap.
How It Happened - Game One
• A three-run home run by Abby Mallo put Saint Louis ahead 3-0 in the top of the third.
• A sacrifice fly by Jane Kaniecki extended the Billikens' lead to 4-0 in the top of the fifth.
• Kelsey Etling followed with a two-run double to make it 6-0 in favor of Saint Louis.

Meghan Sinkus to bring the Hawks to within 6-1 in the bottom of the sixth.
• St. Joe's continued to fight as
Hailey Malito scored on throwing error off a single by Sinkus in the bottom of seventh to make it 6-2.
• The Hawks would get runners to second and third with two outs, but Saint Louis got the final out before the tying run could come to the plate.

How It Happened - Game Two
• Saint Louis took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single by Gabbie Kowalik.
• A sacrifice fly by Kaniecki later in the first scored Natalie Sullivan to make it 2-0.
• Saint Joseph's made it 2-1 in the bottom of the first as
Sarah Cancila scored on a RBI groundout by Gaughan.
• The Hawks tied the game at 2-2 as Cancila scored on a Gaughan sacrifice fly in the bottom of the third.
• A two-run home run by Chloe Rhine pushed the Billikens ahead 4-2 in the top of the fourth.
• The Hawks answered back in the bottom of the fourth as Sinkus connected on a three-run home run to give Saint Joseph's a 5-4 lead.
• Saint Louis rallied to take a 6-5 lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run double by Ashley Marietta.
• Sydney Ross scored on a fielding error by the Hawks to give the Billikens a 7-5 edge.

Kaelin Cash connected on a solo home run to leadoff the bottom of the seventh and bring Saint Joseph's within 7-6.
• The Hawks would get the tying run to second with two outs, however Saint Louis got a ground out to end the game.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two
• Sinkus was 1-for-4 with three RBI and her fourth home run on the season.
• Cash went 3-for-3 with her team-leading 11th home run.

Saige Stutz was the hard-luck loser as she allowed six earned runs over 6.1 innings, while striking out three.
