Softball Tripped Up By Lehigh

The Saint Joseph's softball team fell to Lehigh, 13-3, on Wednesday afternoon at SJU Softball Field.

How It Happened
• Lehigh took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI double by Josie Charles.
• Emily Cimino followed with a triple to score Charles and put the Mountain Hawks up 2-0.
• Cimino scored on a foul out by Lily Owens to push Lehigh's lead to 3-0.
• Rory Dudley capped a four-run first inning with a solo home run to extend the Mountain Hawks' advantage to 4-0.
• Saint Joseph's plated a pair of runs in the bottom of the second to make it 4-2.
• Karlee Smith singled home Hailey Malito to make it 4-1.
• Jenna Currie scored on a RBI groundout off the bat of Meghan Sinkus to bring the Hawks to within two.
• Lehigh pushed its lead to 6-2 with two runs in the top of the third.
• Owens made it 5-2 as she stole third and came in to score on a throwing error.
• Brooke Cannon add the Mountain Hawks' second run of the inning as she scored on a RBI groundout by Sydney Parlett.
• Kaelin Cash connected on her team-leading 12th home run to bring St. Joe's to within 6-3 in the bottom of the third.
• A two-run single by Katelyn Young gave Lehigh an 8-3 lead in the top of the fifth.
• A bases-loaded walk by Charles scored Lindsey Martin to make it 9-3 later in the fifth.
• A two-run single by Dudley extended the Mountain Hawks' lead to 11-3 in the top of the seventh.
• A throwing error by the Hawks allowed Lehigh to plate two more runs.

Inside The Boxscore
• St. Joe's starting pitcher Taylor Trowbridge moved to 5-8 on the year as she allowed five earned runs on 10 hits over 4.1 innings, while striking out five.
• Cash went 1-for-3 with a home run.
• Smith was 1-for-3 with a RBI.

Saint Joseph's caps its homestand with a three-game series versus Dayton this weekend, starting with a doubleheader at noon on Saturday. The Hawks will honor their senior class in a pregame ceremony ahead of game one on Saturday.
