The Saint Joseph's softball team honored its senior class of
Payton Baxter,
Madison Fife,
Jessica Gaughan,
Erica Lawrence and
Saige Stutz as Hawks hosted Dayton in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Flyers took game one, 9-2, but the Hawks battled back to win the nightcap, 4-1.
How It Happened - Game One
• Dayton took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI triple by Kara Gunter.
• Gunter scored on a fielder's choice by Chloe Wong to extend the Flyers' lead to 2-0.
• Fife singled home
Sarah Cancila in the bottom of the first to bring the Hawks to within 2-1.
• The Flyers pushed ahead 4-1 in the top of the third on a two-run double by Quinn Pallardy.
• A double by Gaughan scored Cancila in the bottom of the fifth to make it 4-2.
• A wild pitch allowed Emma Schutter to score in the top of the sixth to give Dayton a 5-2 edge.
• Gunter made it 6-2 in favor of the Flyers as she scored on a sacrifice fly by Maddie Kapsimalis.
• Dayton added three insurance runs in the seventh to open a 9-2 lead.
Inside The Boxscore - Game One
• Stutz moved to 0-5 on the year as the Hawks' starter allowed four earned runs on 11 hits, while striking out six over 6.2 innings.
• Cancila went 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
• Fife and Gaughan were both 1-for-3 with a RBI apiece.
