Softball Dominates Drexel, 8-1

Saint Joseph's freshmen Jenna Currie and Riley York combined to go 4-for-6 with six RBI as the Hawks dominated Drexel for an 8-1 victory on Wednesday at Drexel Softball Field.

How It Happened 
• Drexel took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on a solo home run by Izzy Alamillo.
• Saint Joseph's tied it at 1-1 in the top of the second as Nicole Bondoc scored on a sacrifice fly by York.
Sarah Cancila singled home Currie later in the second to put the Hawks ahead 2-1.
• A two-run single by Currie extended St. Joe's lead to 4-1 in the top of the third.
Madison Fife scored on a RBI double by York to make it 5-1 in the fifth.
• York connected on a two-run home run to push St. Joe's ahead 7-1.
• Currie added the Hawks' final run as she scored on a single by Cancila later in the seventh.

Inside The Boxscore 
Taylor Trowbridge picked up the win to improve to 6-8 on the year as she allowed one run on one hit, and struck out three over 4.0 innings.
Saige Stutz earned the save as she tossed three scoreless innings of relief.
• York went 2-for-3, including her first collegiate home run, four RBI and two runs scored.
• Currie was 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored.
• Cancila went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
