FAIRFAX STATION, Va. – The Saint Joseph's men's rowing team capped its 2022-23 season by winning the inaugural Atlantic Association of Rowing Colleges Championship on Sunday. As a team Hawks had four boats medal on the Occoquan Reservoir to earn the team title.

How It Happened
• Opening the event with the 2nd Varsity 8 Grand Final, the Hawks' crossed the finish line in 5:56.1, edging Colgate by 1.3 seconds to capture gold.
• In the Varsity 8 Heat, the Hawks set the pace as they finished first in a time of 5:51.6 to qualify for the Grand Final.
• Saint Joseph's dominated the Varsity 4 Grand Final as the Hawks' Varsity 4 A squad captured gold in a time of 6:55.8, while St. Joe's Varsity 4 B took silver with a time of 7:06.1.
• Wrapping up the day with the Varsity 8 Grand Final, Saint Joseph's took home silver as the Hawks crossed the finish line in 6:05.0.
• Overall, the Hawks distanced themselves from their competition, earning 40 points to claim the team title.

"First, and most important, a huge thank you to all the programs in attendance for the inaugural AARC Championship. The vision of the coaches, especially Greg Myhr (Marietta) and Khaled Sanad (Colgate), to create an association of colleges that will hold a championship each May is an exciting time for men's rowing," said head coach Mike Irwin. "The local organizing group at the Occoquan Reservoir went above and beyond in helping us get this event off the ground, and we really look forward to building on the momentum from year one."
