MERION STATION, Pa. – The 13th-ranked Saint Joseph's field hockey team controlled the game from whistle to whistle on Sunday afternoon, dismissing #19 Delaware, 3-1, at Ellen Ryan Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (6-2) held the early advantage in possession and used it, as
Lily Santi dribbled into the circle a fired a rocket high past Kylie Walbert to give the Hawks a 1-0 midway through the opening quarter.
• The Hawks continued to dominate the first half, holding a 12-1 advantage in shots, but the game remained at 1-0 at the break.

Hailey Bitters doubled the lead early in the third quarter, capitalizing on a defensive misplay and beating Walbert to the loose ball before tucking it home.

Annabel Lindemulder netted her first goal as a Hawk with 18 seconds to go in the frame, sending a shot past Walbert on a corner insertion from
Sol Borensztein.
• Delaware (4-4) earned a consolation tally in the final seconds as Berber Bakermans broke up the shutout.
BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• The Hawks held a 20-1 shot advantage through the first three quarters; it ended at 24-6 for the day. SJU also earned 16 penalty corners while conceding just five, with four of those coming in the final stanza.

Janelle Ward got the start in the cage for the Hawks and was not called on to make a save;
Marith Bijkerk made on in 15 minutes of relief. Walbert made nine saves through three quarters, while Amanda Cimillo made two in her quarter of relief for the Blue Hens.
