MERION STATION, Pa. – A four-goal third quarter sealed the deal on Friday as the sixth-ranked Saint Joseph's field hockey team dominated Richmond, 7-0, at Ellen Ryan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Neither team was able to break through in the first quarter but
Celeste Smits would break the deadlock on a penalty corner midway through the second when her second effort at the near post gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead.

• Four minutes later,
Alison Buffington scored from the far post on another corner, tucking home a pass from
Julia Duffhuis to double the margin heading into halftime.

• Saint Joseph's (12-2 overall, 4-1 Atlantic 10) took full control in the third quarter.Â
Erika Culp bagged a pair of goals in quick succession to double the lead; she redirected a pass across the front of the goal from
Lily Santi just 73 seconds into the frame before taking a feed from
Manu Ghigliotti and slotting it in less than three minutes later.

Sol Borensztein made it 5-0 with 9:12 to go in the third after she tipped
Emma Winther's pass into the near corner of the cage from just inside the circle.Â
Ciara Margetich capped off the four-goal deluge with just under two minutes to play in the quarter, stealing the ball from a defender in the circle and firing past the keeper for a 6-0 lead.

Lily Santi would set the final margin midway through the fourth, converting yet another penalty corner on assists from Smits and
Kate Crist.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Saint Joseph's held Richmond (10-4 overall, 4-1 Atlantic 10) without a shot on Friday, finishing the game with a 22-0 advantage in the category and earning eight corners without conceding one.
