Women’s Cross Country Finishes Action at the ECAC Championship

BRONX, N.Y. – The Saint Joseph's women's cross country team concluded action at the ECAC Championship on Friday morning, finishing 11th in the meet held inside Van Cortlandt Park.
 
ABOUT THE EVENT
  • The ECAC Championship was hosted by Fordham, the women competing on a 6k course inside Van Cortlandt Park.
  • St. Joe's placed 11th out of the 20 teams competing.
  • The race consisted of 258 competitors.
 
HOW THE HAWKS FINISHED
  • Ava Curry led the charge for the Crimson and Gray, taking the team's fastest time with a finish of 22:04.0 to place 41st.
  • Rookie Danika Slits paced just behind the senior, crossing the line in 48th place with a time of 22:13.5.
  • Katie Sparks and Danielle Juliano finished as two of four Hawks to cross the finish line in under 23 minutes, securing times of 22:53.3 and 22:58.0 to place in the top 100 of the meet. Spark's time was her first time running under the 23-minute mark, setting a new PR by 15 seconds.
  • Madison Buddenbohn led a trio of Hawks to the finish line, recording the final scoring finish with her time of 23:03.8.
  • Only one second separated Buddenbohn from sophomore Grace Rudder and freshman Sabrina Paz, following the senior with times of 23:04.2 and 23:04.6.
  • Maura Keane recorded a time of 23:20.9 on the afternoon, besting freshman Emily Peifer by just three seconds with her 23:24.2 effort. Peifer was just .2 seconds off of her previous best time set at the Paul Short Run two weeks ago.
  • Carlyn Segrave-Daly finished the race with a time of 23:52.2. Paula Heide recorded a 23:57.0 time in her first ECAC Championship.
  • Only seven-tenths of a second separated Grace Fennell (24:00.1), Sophia Schell (24:00.7) and Payton Kochanski (24:00.8). Lauren Charboneau (24:41.4) and Anna Albergo (25:41.4) rounded out the race for the Hawks.

The Hawks are back in action for the final meet of the regular season, taking part in the Haverford Season Ender on Friday, October 25.
