PHILADELPHIA – The Saint Joseph's men's soccer team suffered defeat on Sweeney Field on Wednesday evening, falling 3-0 to city rival La Salle in Atlantic 10 action.
With the loss, the Hawks move to 2-9-1 on the season and 0-4-0 in conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Explorers opened the scoring in the 14th minute, connecting off of a corner kick to give the visitors the early lead.
- St. Joe's mustered six shots in the opening half, but were unable to put any on target as the Hawks went into halftime trailing 1-0.
- Truls Brændvang nearly scored from a free kick as the senior sent a curling effort that landed just on top of the netting in the early stages of the second half.
- La Salle found its second goal of the game on the 58th minute as a pair of passes unlocked the Hawk defense and the Explorer attacker was able to fire home from close range.
- The Explorers sealed the win in the 75th minute, scoring the third of the night to take a 3-0 conference win on Sweeney Field.

- La Salle held a 21-12 margin in shots, including a 7-0 advantage in shots on target.
- The Hawks won seven corner kicks on the night, the Explorers tallying six.
