AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks enter The Palestra for the first of two Big 5 pod games, meeting Penn on Friday evening in the new-look Big 5 after Drexel's addition prior to the 2024-25 season
  • St. Joe's returns 11 starters from last year's team that set a new school record with 28 wins. The Hawks also return four starters; nearly 85 percent of production from 2023-24's squad back on Hawk Hill.
  • The Crimson and Gray head into Friday's game off the back of an 84-70 victory on the road over Syracuse, Talya Brugler and Mackenzie Smith combining for 54 points in the win over the Orange.

CRUSHING THE ORANGE
  • Talya Brugler (29) and Mackenzie Smith (25) combined for 54 points against Syracuse, only four shy of matching the program record of points by a duo. Dale Hodges (32) and Kim Foley (26) combined for 58 against BYU (Nov. 26, 1988) while Hodges (27) and Ellen Shields (31) also hit 58 in a win over St. Bonaventure (Jan. 4, 1990).
  • Brugler and Smith each hit five three-pointers in the win, only the fourth time in program history that two different Hawks each recorded five three-pointers in the same game. The last time it happened was when Alyssa Monaghan (7) and Kristalyn Baiden (5) exploded for 12 threes against Niagara on November 12, 2017.
  • The Hawks entered the matchup with Syracuse at 0-4 all-time against the Orange, earning the first win in program history over the ACC side and the first win over an ACC school since a 74-57 victory over Boston College on December 29, 2011.

BOSLET'S BALL
  • Entering the matchup with Syracuse, Emma Boslet had recorded a career-high five assists on four separate occasions. In the win over the Orange, Boslet doubled her career high to finish the day with 10 assists to go along with six points, five rebounds, three steals and two blocks.
  • Boslet became the first player to record double-digit assists since Katie Jekot recorded 11 in a win at La Salle on December 31, 2022.

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Head Coach Cindy Griffin earned her 400th win at the helm of St. Joe's over Syracuse.
  • Mackenzie Smith surpassed Jana Lichnerova (1995-00) for 19th in program history with 1,176 career points. Smith sits eight points shy of Michelle Baker (2008-12) in 18th.
  • Talya Brugler and Smith are just two games shy of reaching 100 career appearances in their careers and would become the 64th and 65th Hawk to reach the century mark.
  • Brugler is five rebounds shy from 500 in her career.
  • Laura Ziegler needs just 163 points to become the 31st Hawk in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

SERIES REWIND
  • St. Joe's and Penn meet for the 49th time in program history on Friday evening, the Hawks entering the matchup with a 43-5 record in the series.
  • The rivalry has historically leaned Crimson and Gray, St. Joe's winning the first 29 games between the teams before the first program loss in the 2004-05 season.
  • Four of the five wins for Penn have come in the last nine seasons, including a three-game win streak that spanned from December 11, 2017 - November 20, 2019. St. Joe's snapped the streak and has since won the last three games of the series.
  • The Hawks are winners of 25 of the 27 games played against the two teams at the Palestra.
