Fleming Posts Double-Double, But Hawks Fall To Central Connecticut, 73-67

Saint Joseph's Rasheer Fleming posted a game-high 19 points and 16 rebounds for his first double-double of the season, but Central Connecticut held off the Hawks' late rally for a 73-67 decision at Hagan Arena on Friday evening.

How it Happened
• Saint Joseph's jumped out to a 6-0 edge on three-pointers from Erik Reynolds II and Xzayvier Brown.
• Central Connecticut answered back, and behind an 8-0 run, opened a 14-11 advantage on a Darin Smith, Jr. jumper at 12:33.
• The Blue Devils extended their lead to as many as nine, but a 6-0 run by St. Joe's brought the Hawks to within 24-21 on a Fleming layup.
• Ahead 29-27, Central Connecticut closed the first half on an 8-0 run to take a 37-27 lead into the second period.
• Saint Joseph's fought back and retook the lead early in the second half behind a 13-0 run as a steal and layup by Derek Simpson made it 44-40 in favor of the Hawks.
• Down 46-42, Central Connecticut scored nine straight points to open a 51-46 edge on a basket by Smith, Jr. with 10:81 to play.
• The Blue Devils extended their lead to seven, but a three-point play by Brown brought the Hawks to within two, 57-55.
• Despite a strong push, St. Joe's would get no closer over the remaining time.
