AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks meet Drexel for the third-place matchup in the inaugural Big 5 Classic tripleheader on Friday evening, both teams finishing 1-1 in its respective pods.
  • St. Joe's defeated Penn before falling to Villanova last Sunday, while the Dragons cruised past Drexel before dropping its contest to Temple. The teams meet in the second of three games at the Finneran Pavilion, tip scheduled for 5:45 p.m.

  • The Hawks led by seven points early against Villanova before a cold spell doomed St. Joe's, the Wildcats earning an 81-65 win inside Hagan Arena.
  • Mackenzie Smith went a perfect 11-11 from the free throw line to score a team-high 18 points.
  • Laura Ziegler registered her fifth-consecutive double-double on the season.
  • Talya Brugler scored 10+ points the last 10 games dating back to last season, collecting her 81st game scoring in double figures.

HAWKS IN THE NCAA RANKS
  • The Hawks rank eighth in the country in assists per game (20.6) and eighth in the NCAA in assist/turnover ratio (1.53).
  • St. Joe's ranks ninth in the country in three-point percentage, knocking down 40.3% of its attempts from distance. 
  • The Hawks also rank as one of the most elite shooting teams from the foul line, sitting third at 82.9% from the charity stripe. Only Creighton (81.9%) has had a better free throw percentage since the start of the 2023-24 season than Saint Joseph's (81.3%).
  • Laura Ziegler's six double-doubles on the season ranks third in the NCAA, sitting 11th in the country with 11.0 rebounds per game.
  • Talya Brugler ranks fifth in free throw percentage with a 95.5% clip the free throw line (min. 15 made).

TRIPLE-DOUBLE TROUBLE
  • Laura Ziegler became the fourth Hawk in program history to record a triple-double after 16 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists in the win over Saint Francis. Ziegler is one of nine players in the country to register a 10/10/10 game.
  • 13,438 days passed since the last triple-double, Debbie Black tallying 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 steals on February 13, 1988 against Duquesne.
  • Joanne Burke (20 points, 18 rebounds, 11 assists) recorded the first triple-double against Temple on February, 28, 1978 before Ellen Clark (10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists) earned hers over George Washington on February 10, 1984. 

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Head Coach Cindy Griffin earned her 400th win at the helm of St. Joe's over Syracuse and her 450th career win against Southern Utah.
  • Mackenzie Smith sits two points shy of Ayahna Cornish (2003-07) for 15th in scoring in program history.
  • Talya Brugler and Smith became the 64th and 65th Hawk to reach 100 career games played at St. Joe's.
  • Brugler became the 24th Hawk in program history to record 500 rebounds in a career after surpassing the feat against Penn. Brugler also sits 10 points shy of sixth all-time in scoring in program history.
  • Laura Ziegler needs just 67 points to become the 31st Hawk in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

SERIES REWIND
  • The Hawks and Dragons meet for the 23rd time in series history on Friday evening with St. Joe's holding a narrow 12-10 lead in the rivalry.
  • The meeting will be the first between the two teams as Big 5 foes, Drexel in its first ever season in the Big 5.
  • St. Joe's has a pair of wins in the last two seasons by double-digits, erasing a five-game losing streak against the Dragons from 2016-21.
