CHARLESTON, S.C. – Saint Joseph's put up a pair of hard-fought performances on Saturday's second day of the Charleston Invitational. The Hawks opened the day against East Carolina, falling 8-0 in six innings, before pushing Cleveland State to extra innings, only to have the Vikings prevail 8-4 in nine innings.
How It Happened - Game One
• East Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first on a RBI single by Morgan Johnson.
• A RBI single by Emma Jackson made it 2-0 in favor of the Pirates in the second.
• Annie Kate Dalton connected on a solo home run in the third sparked a four-run third inning as the Pirates opened a 6-0 advantage.
• East Carolina added two runs in the sixth on a two-run home run by Dalton.

Nicole Bondoc reached on a one-out single in the bottom of the sixth, but the Hawks couldn't keep the momentum as East Carolina got the final two outs.

How It Happened - Game Two
• Saint Joseph's took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second as
Morgan Lester scored on a sacrifice fly by Smith.
• Cleveland State tied the game in the top of the third, but a RBI single by Smith scored
Kayla Tauber to put the Hawks ahead 2-1 in the fourth.
• A RBI double in the top of the fifth tied the game at 2-2.
• In extra innings, Cleveland State struck for six runs in the top of the ninth to open an 8-2 lead.
• Saint Joseph's fought back as a RBI double by
Sarah Cancila made it 8-3.
• Cancila came around to score on a double steal, but the Vikings would allow the Hawks to get no closer.
