Reynolds II Leads Men's Basketball Past George Washington, 79-75

Saint Joseph's Erik Reynolds II finished with a team-high 20 points and six assists to lead the Hawks past George Washington, 79-75, on Wednesday evening at Hagan Arena.

How It Happened
• George Washington took an early 6-2 lead, but a basket by Lynn Greer III gave the Hawks their first lead, 12-10, less than four minute into the contest.
• Down 20-19, St. Joe's scored seven straight points to open a 26-20 advantage on a basket by Christ Essandoko.
• A free throw by Reynolds II gave the Hawks their biggest lead of the half, 35-27, with 7:01 to go in the period.
• The Revolutionaries battled back to within one at halftime, 44-43.
• Saint Joseph's opened a 49-45 lead on a pair of Xzayvier Brown free throws early in the second half.
• George Washington answered with a quick 5-0 run to retake the lead, 50-49, on a Trey Autry three-pointer.
• The Hawks pushed bask as they regained the lead and opened a 59-54 advantage on Xzayvier Brown three-pointer.
• A layup by James Bishop IV sparked a 10-0 run for the Revolutionaries as they opened their biggest lead, 64-59, with 10:18 remaining.
• Saint Joseph's answered back with a 9-0 run of its own as the Hawks took a 71-66 lead on a basket by Reynolds II at 3:58.
• The Hawks extended their lead to 74-68, but George Washington continued to attack, getting within 74-73 on a three-pointer by Bishop IV with :38 left.
• Fouled with :32.3 to go, Xzayvier Brown connect on a pair of free throws to extend the lead to 76-73.
• Behind staunch defense, the Hawks forced a turnover, and Reynolds II sank two free throws to open a 78-73 lead.
• A quick basket by Jacoi Hutchinson made it 78-75.
• Fouled out of a timeout, Reynolds II connected on a free throw to make it 79-75, while at the other end, Kacper Klaczek blocked a final attempt by the Revolutionaries as time expired.

• Reynolds II also added five rebounds and a steal, while his six assists surpass his previous career-high of five.
Xzayvier Brown added 16 points, four rebounds and two assists.
Cameron Brown was the third Hawk in double figures, scoring 13 points to go with four rebounds and four assists.
• Greer III grabbed a team-best six rebounds, scored eight points and handed out three assists.
• Returning to the lineup for the first time since February 6, Essandoko chipped in with eight points.
