BUIES CREEK, N.C. – Saint Joseph's softball split its pair of games on the second day of play at the Camel Stampede as the Hawks opened with a 6-2 victory over Winthrop, but fell to host Campbell, 5-0, in five innings in the afternoon.
How It Happened - Game One
• Winthrop opened a 2-0 lead in the top of the first as it scored on a wild pitch and a RBI single by Mackenzie Smith.
• The Hawks battled back, scoring three times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 3-2 advantage.Â

Hailey Malito made it 3-2 as she scored on a sacrifice fly by
Haley McMenamin.
• Muhaw scored off a single by Malito to extend the Hawks' lead to 4-2 in the sixth.
• Malito came around to score on a defensive error by Winthrop, while Sinkus made it 6-2 as she scored on a McMenamin double.

• Malito went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a RBI.
• McMenamin was 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Emily Siler improved to 1-4 on the year with the win as she allowed two runs on four hits, while striking out five.

How It Happened - Game Two
• Tristin Doster got Campbell on the board with a two-run single in the bottom of the first.
• A sacrifice fly by Sterling Hairston made it 2-0 later in the first inning.
• The Camels struck for five runs on four hits in the fourth to open an 8-0 edge.
