CHARLESTON, S.C. – Saint Joseph's sophomore
Meghan Sinkus went went 3-for-6 with three RBI and a runs scored to lead the Hawks to an opening day split of their games at the Charleston Invitational. St. Joe's opened the day with an 8-0 loss to East Carolina in five innings, but led throughout in the afternoon's 4-1 victory over host College of Charleston.
How It Happened - Game One
• East Carolina took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first as Emma Jackson scored on a wild pitch.
• Morgan Johnson made it 2-0 later in the inning with a RBI single.
• Jackson and Johnson each collected a RBI in the second as the Pirates opened a 4-0 lead.
• East Carolina added three runs in the third and fourth to push ahead 7-0.
• A sacrifice fly by Hannah Evans scored Makenzie Mason for the final run in the bottom of the fifth.

Gianna Muhaw picked up her first collegiate hit, going 1-for-2 with a walk.

Hailey Malito collected the other St. Joe's hit versus the Pirates as the junior went 1-for-3.

How It Happened - Game Two
• The Hawks took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first as Muhaw scored on a RBI single by Sinkus.
• Junior
Sierra Fretz made it 2-0 in the top of the fourth with a sacrifice fly that scored Sinkus.
• St. Joe's doubled its lead to 4-0 in the fifth on a single up the middle by Sinkus that scored Cancila and senior
Nicole Bondoc.
• Savannah Lockhart got the Cougars on the board with a RBI double to make it 4-1 in the bottom of the fifth.

Taylor Trowbridge and freshman
Jenna Wagner closed the door on the College of Charleston from there as the pair kept the host squad off the scoreboard over the final two innings to preserve the win.
