Reynolds II Powers Hawks Past Richmond And Into The A-10 Championship Semifinals

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Led by a game-high 30 points from Erik Reynolds II, ninth seeded Saint Joseph's downed top seed Richmond, 66-61, in the Quarterfinals of the 2024 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday at Barclays Center.

With Thursday's win, the Hawks advance to Semifinals of the Atlantic 10 Championship and will face fifth seed VCU on Saturday. Game time is set for 1 p.m. and will be televised on CBS Sports Network.

How it Happened
• Richmond took control early, opening a 10-0 lead on a Jordan King three-pointer less than five minutes into the contest.
• A three-pointer from Reynolds II capped seven straight points for the Hawks as they got within 10-7.
• The Spiders built their lead back to eight, 22-14, on a Neal Quinn layup.
• Saint Joseph's closed the half on an 8-2 run to make it a two-point contest at halftime, 24-22.
• A jumper by Xzayvier Brown gave the Hawks their first lead, 25-24, just over a minute into the second period.
Cameron Brown connected on a three-pointer to give Saint Joseph's a 28-26 edge.
• Richmond countered with a 14-2 run as a basket by Dji Bailey put the Spiders up 40-30 at 13:39.
• Saint Joseph's battled back as a Reynolds II three-pointer tied the game at 47-47 with 7:14 to play.
• Consecutive baskets from Quinn gave Richmond a 51-47 lead.
• Reynolds II gave the Hawks their first lead, 54-53, on a three-point play at 3:08.
• King put the Spiders back in front, 55-54, on a basket 11 seconds later.
• Reynolds II answered back with five straight points to open a 59-55 lead for St. Joe's with 1:50 to play.
• King connected on two of three free throws for Richmond, but the Hawks responded as a basket by Cameron Brown with 50 seconds made it 61-57.
• King brought Richmond within 61-59 on a basket with :41 left.
• On the ensuing play, Rasheer Fleming was fouled and made the front end of a one-and-one to give the Hawks a 62-59 lead.
• Off a missed three-point attempt by the Spiders, Fleming was fouled and calmly made both free throws to open a 64-59 advantage with :22 to play.
• A pair of King free throws cut the Hawks' lead to 64-61.
Lynn Greer III was fouled on the inbounds and knocked down two free throws with nine seconds to go to secure the victory.

• Reynolds II finished 11-19 from the field, 3-8 from distance and 5-5 from the line for 30 points, and added three rebounds and two steals.
• Thursday was the second 30-point game of the season for Reynolds II, he previously scored 31 at UMass on January 23, and seventh of his career.
Cameron Brown added 10 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals.
• Fleming grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds, matching his career-high, and scored six points.
• Saint Joseph's improved to 15-3 when holding an opponent under 70 points.
• The Hawks advance to the Semifinals of the A-10 Championship for the 11th time in program history.
