VILLANOVA, Pa. – Saint Joseph's
Sierra Fretz went 2-for-2 with three RBI, a run scored and a walk, but Villanova held off the Hawks for a 16-7 decision in six innings on Wednesday at VU Softball Complex.
How It Happened
• After a scoreless top of the first, Villanova struck for five runs in the bottom of the first to open a 5-0 advantage.
• The Wildcats added to their lead with five more runs in the second to open a 10-0 edge.
• Saint Joseph's answered with three runs in the top of the fourth to make it 10-3.

Haley McMenamin drove in
Karlee Smith with a RBI triple to start the scoring.
• Fretz doubled home McMenamin, and later came around to score on a RBI single by
Morgan Lester.
• The Hawks cut their deficit to 10-7 in the fifth as four more runs scored for St. Joe's.
• A Villanova error allowed
Kayla Tauber to score the first run for the Hawks.

Riley York and
Hailey Malito made it 10-6 as they scored on a Fretz double.
• A second error of the inning by the Wildcats allowed McMenamin to score the fourth run and bring Saint Joseph's to within three.
• Villanova pulled away though with a run in the bottom of the fifth and five in the sixth.
