The Saint Joseph's softball team completed a series sweep of Rhode Island as the Hawks downed Rams, 8-5, in Saturday's series finale at SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened
• Saint Joseph's took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the second on a two-run double by
Riley York.

Meghan Sinkus singled home York to make it 3-0.
• A RBI groundout by
Gianna Muhaw scored
Sierra Fretz to make it 4-0 later in the second.
• Sinkus scored the fifth run of the inning as she came in on a throwing error by Rhode Island following a walk to
Kayla Tauber.
•
Morgan Lester made it 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth on a RBI single that scored
Haley McMenamin.
• A fielding error by the Hawks led to a pair of runs off a ball hit by Skyler Rapuano in the top of the sixth.
• Sydney Yoder followed with a three-run home run that brought the Rams to within 6-5.
• Saint Joseph's added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth to push ahead 8-5.
• Cancila singled home Tauber for the first run, then came around to score on a single by McMenamin.

Emily Siler worked around a two-out single in the top of the seventh to close out the victory with a strikeout.

• Siler improved to 7-5 on the season with the win, allowing one run on five hits, while striking out two over 6.1 innings.
