Saint Joseph's softball team won the opening two games of its series with George Mason as the Hawks topped the Patriots 8-3 and 6-0 on Saturday afternoon at SJU Softball Field.
How It Happened - Game One
• Saint Joseph's
Sierra Fretz blasted a three-run home run to give the Hawks a 3-0 edge in the bottom of the second.
• Rachel Warrens brought George Mason to within 3-2 with a two-run triple in the top of the third.
• Marlaina Bozek followed with a single that scored Warrens to tie the game at 3-3.
• The Hawks retook the lead in the bottom of the fourth as a solo home run by
Riley York gave St. Joe's a 4-3 edge.

Meghan Sinkus delivered a bases-loaded double that led to three runs to open a 7-3 lead in the bottom of the sixth.

Gianna Muhaw followed with a bunt single to score Sinkus and make it 8-3.

Emily Siler and the Hawks' defense retired the Patriots in order in the top of the seventh to close out the victory.
Inside The Boxscore - Game One
• Siler improved to 8-5 on the season as she allowed three runs on four hits, while striking out seven in the complete game victory.
• York connected on her second home run of the season as she went 2-for-2 with a home run, two runs scored and a walk.
• Fretz also went 2-for-2 on with her second home run of the year and three RBI.
How It Happened - Game Two
• Fretz singled home York to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second.
• Sinkus made it 2-0 in the bottom of the third with a solo home run to center.
• A fielding error by George Mason's shortstop allowed
Hailey Malito to score from third and make it 3-0 in the third.
• Fretz followed with a sacrifice fly that scored
Haley McMenamin to extend the advantage to four.

Nicole Bondoc scored the third run of the third as she scored on a RBI ground out to make it 5-0.

Karlee Smith scored from third on a single up the middle by
Morgan Lester to add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth.
Inside The Boxscore - Game Two

Taylor Trowbridge was stellar in the circle picking up the complete game shutout as she scattered nine hits and struck out six to improve to 5-6.
• Fretz was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBI.
• Lester went 2-for-3 with a RBI.
