Erik Reynolds II,
Xzayvier Brown and
Rasheer Fleming were recognized by the Big 5 for their stellar play during the 2023-24 season. Reynolds II was named to the All-Big 5 First Team and Big 5 Top Free Throw Shooter, while Brown was recognized as Big 5 Rookie of the Year and All-Big 5 Second Team selection, and Fleming was named an All-Big 5 Honorable Mention, organization officials announced on Monday.
Earning All-Big 5 First Team honors for the second straight year, Reynolds II continued to prove to be one of the top guards in the Big 5 and the nation as the junior averaged 17.3 points per contest and guided the Hawks to the inaugural Big 5 Classic title. Named to the A-10 All-Conference First Team and NABC All-District 4 First Team, Reynolds II capped the season ninth in the nation in made three-pointers with 112 - the second most in a single season on Hawk Hill - and 50th in free throw percentage (.871). The three-year starter will enter the 2024-25 season 15th all-time in scoring (1,616 points) and fifth in three-pointers (261).
Just the sixth Hawk to be selected Big 5 Rookie of the Year, Brown made an immediate impact on Hawk Hill leading the team in steals (62), ranking second in scoring (12.7 points per game) and third in assists (117). Named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year in March, the Philadelphia native elevated his production during conference play, averaging 14.9 points per contest. Guiding the Hawks to the Semifinals of the 2024 A-10 Championship and a NIT berth, Brown capped his rookie campaign third in the A-10 in steals per game (1.77), 14th in three-pointers per game (1.97) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.75), and 24th in scoring (12.7 ppg).
It was a breakout season for Fleming as he proved to be one of the top post players in the Big 5. Starting all 35 games in 2023-24, the sophomore elevated his game across the board as he jumped from 5.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game as a rookie to 10.7 points and 7.4 rebounds this year. Along with leading the Hawks in rebounding and field goal percentage (.528), Fleming's defense shined through as he tied for eighth in the Atlantic 10 in blocked shots with 55.
