Michael Sorochen, David Moser and Christopher Newman will serve as the Saint Joseph's Hawk mascots for the 2024-25 academic year, department officials announced on Friday. Sorochen will serve as The Hawk for the men's basketball program for a second consecutive year, Newman and Moser will share the role as The Hawk for the women's basketball program.

Serving as The Hawk for the men's basketball program this past season,  the West Chester, Pennsylvania native Sorochen is currently working towards a degree in accounting and business intelligence and analytics.

A rising junior, Newman has served as a student ambassador for St. Joe's athletics marketing and is a talk radio host for Radio 1851. A native of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, Newman is working on a sports marketing degree, with a minor in Spanish.

Working with the women's basketball program as a student manager this past year, Moser is a second-generation Hawk as his mother Barb (nee Wilson) served as The Hawk for two seasons (1992-94) with St. Joe's women's basketball program. A native of Glenmoore, Pennsylvania, the rising sophomore is working towards degrees in finance and business intelligence.

One of the most famous mascots in college sports, the Saint Joseph's Hawk has flapped its wings for more than 65 seasons. The Hawk is best known for staying in constant motion by flapping its wings throughout every basketball game and representing Saint Joseph's motto, "The Hawk Will Never Die."
