Petrich Powers Baseball to 6-1 Victory at Fordham

BRONX, N.Y. – Owen Petrich ripped a pair of late home runs to lead the Saint Joseph's baseball team past Fordham, 6-1, at Houlihan Park on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Joseph's (19-23 overall, 7-10 Atlantic 10) got on the board in the third as Ryan Cesarini led off with a double and eventually scored on a sacrifice fly by Ryan Picollo.

• Fordham (19-26 overall, 10-7 Atlantic 10) tied the game in the fourth on a single by Madden Ocko.

• Petrich broke the deadlock with a two-out, two-run shot to center to give the Hawks a 3-1 lead before Jakob Reed added a sac fly in the eighth to extend the lead to 4-1.

• Petrich put an exclamation point on the proceedings with a towering two-run home run to left in the top of the ninth to set the final margin.

BEHIND THE BOX SCORE
• Matt McShane earned the win after allowing one hit and striking out four in three and a third innings of relief.  Robbie Stewart took the loss for Fordham, allowing five runs on six hits in four innings.

• Will McCausland turned in a strong start for the Hawks, allowing one run and scattering six hits while striking out seven without a walk in five and two-thirds innings.  Aidan Dowd got the start for the Rams, allowing a run on seven hits in five innings.
