Rhodes' Late Goal Lifts Women's Soccer Past Lafayette, 1-0

Ashley Rhodes picked an opportune time to tally her first collegiate goal as the Hawks' freshman scored in the 87th minute to lift Saint Joseph's to a 1-0 victory over Lafayette on Thursday at Sweeney Field.

How It Happened
• Lafayette came out as the aggressor, as St. Joe's goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti made a save on the Leopards first scoring chance in the sixth minute.
• The Hawks capped the first half with three scoring opportunities of their own, but couldn't find the back of the net.
• Saint Joseph's defense and Cappelletti continued to turn away the Leopards throughout the second period, with Cappelletti making four saves.
• Off a corner kick by Natalie Nevins, the ball ricocheted away from the Lafayette goalkeeper, allowing Rhodes to quickly flick the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 in favor of the Hawks at 86:51.
• Lafayette pushed the ball forward soon after, but Saint Joseph's thwarted the Leopards' final offensive opportunity.
