AT THE TIP
  • The Hawks head on the road to take on Massachusetts in a noon matchup on Saturday afternoon.

LAST TIME OUT
  • Mackenzie Smith scored all 16 of her points in the second half to help lead Saint Joseph's to a 72-65 win over Fordham on Wednesday night inside Hagan Arena.
  • Fordham opened on a 10-3 run, forcing Saint Joseph's to chip at the lead over the first 10 minutes. SJU took its first lead of the game midway through the second, but the Rams ended the frame on a 10-2 run. St. Joe's turned the deficit into a two-point lead with 10 minutes to play, extending the lead to as many as 10 in the fourth through 19 free throw attempts in the final frame to push the Hawks past the Rams.
  • Smith finished 5-7 in the second half after beginning the game 0-6 to lead the Hawks with 16 points. Laura Ziegler finished with 15 points with game-highs in rebounds (12), assists (7) and blocks (3). Aleah Snead went 6-6 from the free throw line to help add 13 points.

HAWKS IN THE NCAA RANKS
  • Ziegler moved into second all-time in program history, recording her 33rd double-double of her career. Ziegler ranks fifth in the country with 11.5 rebounds per game, leading the NCAA with 9.6 defensive rebounds per game.
  • Emma Boslet ranks second in the Atlantic 10 and 26th in the country in assist/turnover ratio (2.52).
  • The Hawks are 14th as a team in assist/turnover ratio (1.33) while the 18.2 assists per game sits 17th-best in the country. The Hawks lead the Atlantic 10 in both categories.
  • The 16.4 scoring margin for the Hawks ranks second in the Atlantic 10.
  • Ziegler, Brugler and Smith all rank in the top 10 in scoring in the conference.

MILESTONE MARKS
  • Laura Ziegler recorded her 1,000th career point against VCU, becoming the 31st player in program history to reach 1,000 points. Ziegler became the fourth-fastest player (74) to the milestone, only Dale Hodges (53), Susan Moran (64) and Talya Brugler (72) reaching 1,000 points quicker than the Herlev, Denmark native.
  • Ziegler also moved to ninth all-time in program history in career rebounds (758) and blocks (88).
  • Talya Brugler is 17 points shy of entering top five in program history in scoring, while Mackenzie Smith entered the top 10 and is three points shy of 1,400 in her career.

SERIES REWIND
  • St. Joe's enters Saturday's contest with a 52-16 overall record against Massachusetts.
  • The 52 wins are the third-most wins against a single opponent in program history, trailing Rhode Island (59) and La Salle (54).
  • Despite the disparity in the series history, the Minutewomen have grabbed six wins in the last eight meetings.
